Welcome to Tresillian Early Years

History of the nursery

Our nursery is situated in a large Victorian House with high ceilings and light airy rooms. It has a large and delightful garden with play equipment and climbing frame. We also regularly access Kingsbridge’s beautiful Community Garden, which has a pond and nature walks. The pre-school has been running for over 30 years, with the nursery being added in 2000. It is the only Devon County Council run nursery. The pre-school is open 5 days a week from 8:30am to 5:30pm for 49 weeks of the year

Mission statement

The mission of Tresillian Early Years is to provide a safe, stimulating environment where children can learn through play, exploration and creativity. We recognise the important of supporting the home learning environment working alongside parents in their child’s learning and development. Our goal is to inspire children’s desire to be lifelong learners.

We have quiet times throughout the day where the children can have a rest and where some of the younger children can go to sleep in a cot.
Nappies are checked at regular times throughout the day and are changed when necessary. Encouraging children through potty training is done when parents/carers feel the child is ready.

The children’s daily activities will be sent home, displayed or included in their learning journeys. Each child’s learning journey, which includes a range of observations staff do on your child, samples of their work and photographs of them during their time at the unit.  You are welcome to come and have a look at our displays and your child’s folders during sessions but please check with staff to make sure the time is convenient.
